Remote Desktop Help
Welcome to the Remote Desktop section of the Compsci web
site. Remote Desktop is a newer version of Terminal Server
(Please go to the bottom and read the Remote Desktop info) We the Student Site Administrators have realized
that most students/teachers have a real problem understand the whole
Terminal Server idea. The whole concept of Terminal Server is
to connect to our main server "NT2" for students and our
teacher server "NT1". Both are extremely powerful machines
which can handle a large work load.
Terminal Server technology gives the ability to connect to the
server computer and access all software installed on the server
computer. Advantages to this technology is that all you need
is a computer with a low grade internet connection. For
example you are a student who wants to work from home and your
computer is extremely out of date. You computer can be the
worst of the worst Pentium 75MHz. It doesn't matter because
the beauty of Terminal Technology is that all the processing is done
on the server. The only thing that your physical computer does
is load screen updates and inputs keyboard/mouse
commands.
This technology should be used to your advantage. Below are
tutorials on how to setup Terminal Server from home and how to
use Terminal Server From School.
