The ENG1D course is designed to help prepare you for the academic challenges and demands of the Academic and University stream at Dr. Denison Secondary School The emphasis is on improving your reading and writing skills, your analytical skills, and your ability to work both independently and co-operatively. Follow this link for a copy of the first day handout which outlines the unit content. Students and parents should also reference the Department Policy handout and webpage.

The theme of the GradeNine Academic English course is "Adversity and Prejudice." Through each unit, students will explore how various people (as individuals and within the context of larger cultures and communities) face adversity, and then consider how this shapes their perspective. There will be extensive opportunities for independent reading.
