Sustainability in York Region Field Trip

This field trip focuses on three examples of sustainability found in northern York Region.  The first is Canada Composting Inc. in Newmarket where they convert food waste into compost and electricity.  The second is Miller Composting Inc. on Bloomington Sideroad where they process our curbside yard waste into compost.  Afternoon was spent at the York Region Forest School where students learned about forest certification and sustainable logging practices under the guidance of School Director Lori Parrott.
