SPEEDBALL

General:
 
 
Attackers: team in possession of the ball
Defenders: team which is attempting to gain possession of the ball
Aerial Ball: is one that has been raised into the air directly from a kick by one or both feet and includes the punt, drop-kick, and kick-up or a thrown ball which has not touched the ground.
Ground Ball:  is one that is rolling, bouncing, or stationary on the ground.

Advancing the Ball by Means of the Feet:

Soccer Dribble: a succession of kicks keeping the ball under control
Drop-Kick: a caught ball dropped to the ground once and only once and then kicked
Punt: a caught ball is released and kicked before it touches the ground
Place-Kick: kicking a stationary ball (only done at the beginning of the game or after a score)

Advancing the Ball by Means of the Hands:

Passing: advancing the ball in the air
Juggle: throwing or tapping the ball and catching it again before it touches the ground

Stopping the Ball:

A ground ball may not be blocked with the arms or hands

Fouls:

an infringement of the rules for which a free kick or a penalty-kick is
awarded to the opponents.

The Game:

Scoring:

Soccer goal (1 point) - passes over the goal line, between the goal posts and under the crossbar.
Touchdown (2 points) - completion of a forward pass except between the goal posts in the end zone
Drop-kick (3 points) - is when the ball has been legally caught and "drop-kicked" over the crossbar and between the uprights of the goal posts or their imaginary extensions

Ball Out-Of-Bounds:

Throw-in:
If a player sends the ball over the side line, (or when a player holding the ball touches the ground), a member of the opposing team puts it into play from that point by a "throw-in". Player throwing in must stand behind the side line, ball may be played either as an aerial or as a ground ball. The player doing the throw in shall not play the ball until it has been played by
another player.

Crossing goal line:
If a ball goes over the goal line and does not score, it shall be put into play by a place-kick (goalie kick), by the opposing team.

Playing Privileges:

1. The ball may be caught or otherwise played with the hands when it is an aerial ball.

2. A ground ball may be kicked, headed, or bounced off the body. It cannot be played with the hands or the arms. A ground ball may be converted into an aerial ball by kicking it up to a teammate or to oneself.

3. A player may dribble the ball with his feet at will, or drop a caught ball to the ground if he wished to kick or dribble.

4. No holding, charging, pushing, or blocking is permitted. Persons must play the ball and not their opponents.
